  • 3 MAY 2000: BIND8NT gets a link on DNS Resources Directory.

  • 28 APR 2000: We have been unable to compile all of the modules of RC2 for NT and have reported the bug to ISC. ISC is looking into it. They are also looking BIND on Win 2000.

  • 28 APR 2000: The International Software Consortium has listed BIND8NT on their site: "BIND 8 for NT 4 from Len Conrad"

  • BIND 9 is a total re-write and has been in Beta for several months. ISC is shooting for release for near 1 July 2000.

  • 23 SEP 2000: From the BIND-users@ISC.org mailing list:

    X-RCPT-TO: < lconrad@Go2France.com>

    Time to squash this rumour.

The intention is still to release BIND 8.2.3. There will be
no new development work in BIND 8.2.x however. Bug reports
are still accepted for BIND 8.2.x.

BIND 9.0 requires a working pthreads implementation. There
are plans to allow BIND 9 to be built without pthreads in
BIND 9.1 or BIND 9.2, such a change is considered a feature
change and will not be seen in BIND 9.0.

    Hi,

BIND version 9 was designed such that porting to win32 would be much easier
than BINDv8 was. We didn't (and don't) have the resources to do an win32
port ourselves at this point. We would like to, however. Anybody want a
    job? :-)

    Hi,

BTW, since 9.0.0 has been released, does that mean that 8.2.3 is now dead?

No. I suspect we'll need to maintain and develop both BINDv8 and BINDv9 for a while yet.
